The Highlands of Scotland June 2013

The Caledonian Cannel at Fort Augustus at the entrance to Loch Ness, I did not count the locks the vessels have to pass through, seeing it was hard enough climbing in the first place. Please take notice of the plaque in the first photo. I waited ages to get the piper on his own without hundreds of cameras clicking away.

That's amazing! It's especially so since the locks were originally built more than 200 years ago and are still be used.

This is the first I've ever heard of the canal across Scotland! Locks are wonderful things, and make for some great photos. It might be interesting to live in one of those homes nearby and watch what sorts of vessels come floating through. I like the piper standing near the sculpture of Nessie. Too back we can't also hear him piping, but I can use my imagination. I love bagpipes.
